Up and coming rappers from the capital will launch a single in south Essex to help steer the county's youths away from crack cocaine and the devastation the drug causes.

The single's title takes the name from the Crack Under Pressure campaign launched this summer to prevent the highly addictive drug spreading in the county.

The CD, by Juvenile and Shadie, will be launched at Basildon's Ikon nightclub on August 19 and at a Southend club on a date to be announced soon.

The police-led campaign, launched in May, aims to reach three key groups, the general public, those at risk of drug use and young people.

Drug-related calls to Crimestoppers doubled in the first eight weeks of the initiative.
