Essex surprised County Championship Division Two promotion hopefuls Hampshire by beating them inside three days.
Ronnie Irani's men looked in control throughout the 384-run victory - only their second County Championship win of the season.
Jamie Middlebrook's 83-ball innings of 93 set up a declaration shortly after lunch, with Hampshire set 534 to win.
Essex needed just 33 overs to bowl Hampshire out for 149.
