Jamie Robinson has made a successful start at the Swiss Tennis Open - beating Konstantin Schmaeh of Switzerland in a closely-fought three set tussle.
The 32-year-old from Shoebury came back from one set down to claim a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory in the Championship Series One event on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
Robinson, who trains at works at the Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, will now face Frenchman Lahcen Majdi -- the eighth seed.
Around 30 players and supporters from the Southend area travelled down to the annual Penzance Open Tennis Tournament in Cornwall.
Westcliff Lawn club captain Steve Wynn once again refereed the event and witnessed successes for his club mates.
Jill Sanderson and Eddie Lamb won the veteran mixed doubles, while Jill made it two trophies by winning the veteran ladies' doubles with Sarah O'Sullivan.
Other local players involved included Steve's wife Hazel, Sue Blackshaw, Sarah Ball and Westcliff Hard captain Roger Hanson.
