Tributes have been paid to a globe-trotting cystic fibrosis sufferer who lived life to the full.
Simon Harris, 30, of Colchester, refused to let his illness stand in the way of work, learning new talents, travelling and enjoying himself. He gained qualifications to become a chartered engineer and worked for car firm Ford.
His mother, Yvonne, of Panton Crescent, Greenstead, said: "He just hit life head on when he was born and never stopped.
"He just lived every day for the day. He liked to say 'there is a life out there, go and grab it'."
The former Colchester Grammar School pupil was a music lover, taught himself to play instruments and was the drummer for Jam tribute act Not The Jam.
He gained a first-class degree at Anglia Polytechnic while working for Ford at Dunton.
