Geordie Cator's 21lb 4oz common carp was the king of the catches in a great week at Gloucester Park.

His extended session at the little bay yielded 32 carp on a variety of baits, with Geordie's first 20lb-er of the year failing to a strawberry fish boilie.

Another regular at the Basildon lake, Chris Johnson, took about 40 carp from the west end of the island over the weekend.

His biggest catch was a 19lb 4oz mirror, with three other specimins clearing 15lb. All fell to strawberry shellfish boilies.

Teenagers Jamie Ferguson and Jamie Mitchell claimed more than 80 carp between them in three day sessions, using surface and bottom baits.

The first trip to the cockle bank saw Ferguson christen his new tackle with five double-figure fish in a 13-carp haul, while Mitchell took 17 to a best of 12lb.

Next day they were back at the cockle bank, with Ferguson bagging 23 carp to 11lb, and Mitchell taking 17 to 13lb 8oz.

Finally Ferguson switched to the east end of the island, and took another 11 carp to 10lb 8oz.
