New Colchester United signing Ben May insists he has not scored his first and only goal for the U's.

The striker, poised to sign a two-year loan deal from Millwall tomorrow, netted a dramatic 80th-minute leveller for Colchester last night in their final friendly of the season against Premiership side Charlton Athletic, which finished 2-2.

"There is more where that came from," insisted May, in his second spell with the U's after a disappointing loan period at the end of the 2002-2003 season.

"When I was last here I didn't perform as well as I hoped, but this time I'm keen to show what I can do."

May smashed the ball into the bottom corner of the net from just inside the area to prove he has it in him to score more goals.

And he is keen to add to his tally and help Colchester get off to a flying start at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday in their opening fixture of the Coca-Cola League One campaign.

"Sheffield Wednesday is a great place to start the season and I hope that by scoring the manager will have a couple of selection headaches to worry about."

May, 20, spent last season on loan to fellow League One side Brentford and is hoping the U's can offer him more first-team football.
