A £6m business park on Canvey is a step closer, with work expected to start soon on its nature reserve.

A detailed application relating to ditch work for the area has been submitted to Castle Point Council and the proposal is out for public consultation.

The early work, expected to start soon, will focus on the nature reserve.

Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership chief executive Mary Spence said the reserve would take up a significant amount of the 55-acre site.

She said: "Work will start any time now on the nature reserve, which will protect the wildlife currently living in Northwick Road.

"Then we want to attract the right type of business users so the business park can become a high-quality development."

The reserve is being created under the watchful eye of the East of England Development Agency and English Nature.
