Southend Swifts star Yetty Arayomi is heading to North Carolina -- after being accepted at a top American college
The 18-year-old, who has been with Swifts for two years, will study at the Davidson University, following in the foot-steps of former team-mate Sarah Hopkins at Jefferson College in Missouri.
Swifts chairman Paul May was pleased with the news and praised the 6ft 2in-tall athlete's dedication.
"We are absolutely delighted with Yetty's achievement in obtaining entry to such a prestigious American University," he said.
"We are fully aware of the high standards demanded by Davidson both in the classroom and the basketball court and we are certain she will fulfil all that is required of her in both places."
To gain entry to the highly selective college, Arayomi sat an American examination in which she received an outstanding grade which put her inside the top five per cent of her fellow students.
