Police have re-issued an appeal for information about a knife-wielding thug who threatened a pensioner.

Officers believe the suspect may have struck again since the attack. They hope a description from the original incident will now trigger someone's memory.

A 74-year-old man was approached at the Laindon underpass on July 13 and told he would be stabbed unless he handed over cash.

The frightened man told the attacker he had no money, but was subjected to a physical search.

On finding no money, the culprit sat on the grass and told his victim he was ill.

The attacker was white, with brown eyes and short black hair, which appeared to be gelled or greased back.

He had a haggard face, was in his late 20s to early 30s and spoke with a local accent.

Anyone who has been approached by this man or suspects they might know who he is should contact DC Wayne Hickey at Laindon CID on 01268 532212.
