Anglers at Basildon's Aquatels lake have been making the most of the hot weather by filling their nets with fish of most species.

John Ashton cast his rod into the back straight and landed tench to 6lb, as well as several good sized roach and perch.

On the north beach, Bill Rothen reeled in a 5lb tench, while ten-year-old Luke Moorcroft had a net full of small roach and perch.

His father Brian also got in on the act, claiming bream to 6lb and tench to 7lb 9oz on the second point. Billy Wilton also took a 5lb tench.

Carp anglers were busy, with Nick Wright landing a brace of 10lb and 17lb fish from the Essex pool. John Knight caught a 20lb 6oz common from the beach and Marc Maynard's patience was rewarded when he hooked a pair of 17lb plus specimens from the same spot.

Dan Pennycook claimed a tremendous 22lb 12oz fully scaled mirror from the second point and, back on the beach, Russ Morley landed the big mirror cluster at 32lb 6oz.
