Three sites for a mobile phone mast in Mistley have all been rejected by the village's parish council.

Mistley has fought off several plans for a mast in the riverside village, including one disguised as a tree, which was to have gone up in Mistley Wood.

Councillors heard at their meeting yesterday that Hutchison 3G hoped to put up a mast in Mistley to meet the increased need.

It had identified three sites and before applying for planning permission, wanted the views of the parish council.

The sites were at Edme in High Street, by the village hall at Furze Hill, or on the existing mast at the former nuclear bunker, also at Furze Hill, but were all rejected by the council.

"We have fought them off every time and should continue to do so," said Richard Horlock.
