Fast-moving traffic is making it dangerous for residents to get out of their own driveways in a Tendring village.
That is the view of some residents, who have called for action to slow down speeding cars in Little Clacton.
One resident, who has lived in Holland Road for ten years, said: "It's getting worse and worse. We get double decker buses, articulated lorries down there and the sheer speed of the cars that come along there is frightening."
He said at a meeting of Little Clacton Parish Council that at one point in the road a motorist needed to come right over into the middle of the carriageway to be able to see round it properly.
"It's like a race track," he added.
Parish councillor Peter Balbirnie, who has been to look at the road, called for a site visit to be carried out.
Little Clacton parish councillors also heard that lorries travelling down the road are a problem for residents.
It was decided that residents should try to take down the names of the lorry companies involved so that the parish council can write to them with their concerns
