Swimmers were finally able to take to the water at Manningtree yesterday.
The pool in the grounds of Manningtree High School was closed to the public after the water turned dark green last week.
It was first thought vandals had thrown something into the pool, but a pool company suggested a lightning strike had affected the chemicals.
The pool was then completely emptied and refilled.
But at last night's meeting of Mistley Parish Council, chairman Ian Rose, a respected naturalist, blamed the sudden rise in humidity.
"It's a very delicate balance with the chemicals and the hot weather will see an increase in algae," said Mr Rose.
The pool is open for two sessions each weekday, at 2pm and 3.10pm.
