Colchester's community stadium plan is still being delayed by legal issues, a year after councillors gave their backing.
The Cuckoo Farm and Severalls Hospital regeneration project was given outline planning permission by Colchester Council's planning committee, subject to legal agreements.
But one year on from the planning meeting, held on July 31 last year, the agreements are still awaiting being signed.
Colchester MP Bob Russell has written to the council demanding answers. He said: "It is a year on and the council still has to dot the "i"s and cross the "t"s of the legal agreement.
"Colchester United supporters like me are wondering why it is a year later with the high hopes of a stadium and the council hasn't got the legal sides sorted out.
"It is a complicated project, but a year to get the legal issues sorted is extraordinary."
Nicola George, head of planning and protection at Colchester Council, said: "The legal agreements are still outstanding.
"The reason for the timescale involved is related to the complexity of the agreements. It is a large development and it has got to be right."
