A driver had to be cut free from his car by firefighters after it left the road and overturned.

The 34-year-old man, of Walton-on-the-Naze, was trapped in the Rover after it left the A133 slip road at Hare Green.

Colchester firefighters used heavy-duty cutting equipment to get him out of his car. He was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.

A police spokesman said the driver had suffered cuts to his head and face but his injuries were not life-threatening.

A road sign was damaged in the incident.
