Tiptree battled back from two goals down to earn a deserved draw against their Nationwide Conference opponents.

Adam Collier struck twice in the second half to even the score after Canvey had gone ahead by two goals either side of half-time.

It was no more than Tiptree deserved for their second-half performance. The first 45 minutes, however, had not been impressive for the Jam-makers as they failed to get to grips with Canvey.

In the second half, though, despite conceding a quick goal, they were more than a match for their opponents. The passing was crisper and the movement better as Tiptree clawed themselves back into the game.

Collier's first came after he missed a similar chance just two minutes earlier. The former Swindon Town trainee sprinted past the last defender before bearing down on the goalkeeper and slotting it past him in textbook style.

His second came moments later after he latched on to a loose ball following Danny Rochester's long-range effort. This was Collier's third goal in two games after he had already scored in Tiptree's 2-1 pre-season friendly win at Essex Police on Wednesday night.

Tiptree maintained their influence on the game, and despite some nervewracking moments towards the end held on for a morale-boosting draw.
