Free golf lessons will be on offer to schoolchildren if a new golf complex gets the go-ahead.
And the man behind the plans for a site on the outskirts of Braintree hopes the initiative will uncover the "champions of tomorrow."
The plan for a 16-bay, floodlit, 300-yard driving range, is the brainchild of qualified Professional Golf Association instructor David Lellow.
It also includes a car park, shop and teaching academy on the site by the A120 near to Hatches Farm. He hopes to use the existing entrance to the land which is currently agricultural.
Mr Lellow, 33, said: "The long-term aim is to nurture some good, young, local talent and find the champions of tomorrow. If the kids are prepared to dedicate their lives to the sport the rewards are huge."
The plan has been submitted to Braintree Council and will be discussed by councillors at a future date.
