The singles and ladies' doubles provided two thrilling finals as the Southend Ladies' Open Bowls Tournament ended on Saturday.
Dee Huggins (WR Gloucester Park) and Ann Nevison (Greenways) fought a cat and mouse battle that saw Nevison take a 12-7 lead by the 12th end.
But Huggins pulled back to 14-12 before Nevison made it 17-15 before taking two shots to win 21-19 on the 26th end.
The pairs final saw Sheila Hennessey (RBL Wickford) and Delia Searle (Runwell) level at 13-13 with Rose Henstock (Runwell) and Eve Martin (Runwell) in the 16th end.
The nip and tuck match reached 15-15 three ends later before Henstock and Martin bowled six to take a 21-15 lead on the 20th end.
Searle considered this too great a margin to recover and conceded the game.
