Spot checks at Stansted Airport have resulted in six arrests.

One woman and five men were arrested for various offences and two of the six were wanted on warrant.

The 672 checks, held over Wednesday and Thursday, were carried by the police, customs, immigration, British Airports Authority Security, taxi licensing and the DVLA on the border road of the airport.

Also caught were 30 bogus taxi cabs and 54 vehicles were highlighted by the police's Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, which is being used daily across the Braintree division.
