As part of their commitment to their supporters, Chelmsford Chieftains held a fans forum last week, to update all on the latest developments within the organisation.

Coach Andy Hannah had some mixed views on the player front with news that one of his import signings had fallen through owing to a technicality beyond the management's control.

Chris Duggan is unable to ice for the Chieftains this year due to the fact he does not have the necessary British heritage to play in the league without gaining a work permit.

English Premier League rules do not allow such players to ice for their sides

There was also some shock news with long serving player Richard Whiting not returning to the Riverside as first thought and he has joined local rivals Romford Raiders.

He departs with everyone's best wishes after nine seasons of loyal service

On the positive side, Hannah announced two import signings who last year iced in UK Ice Hockeys Elite league.

Marc Long joins from London Racers. Long is a free scoring forward who has also iced for Milton Keynes and Romford

The other is experienced defence man Carl Greenhous. Greenhous is a solid stay at home D man who will provide the backbone to a solid defence.

He previously iced for Chieftains in their memorable Grand Slam season of 1999-2000 and played for Manchester Phoenix of the Elite League last season
