Insurance giant Marsh has said it may be expanding operations at its Witham offices bringing more jobs to the town.
Due to a possible reorganisation, which could lead to it leaving premises in London and reportedly relocating up to 600 staff, the company is looking at its other offices to see where those workers could be accommodated.
A Marsh spokesman said the company had been approached by an unnamed party interested in taking over the tenancy of Anchorage House at East India Dock, London.
He said: "Although we have not been marketing the property, we have entered into negotiations which, if they are successful, will lead to the exchange of contracts during August and Marsh vacating the building by July 2005.
"Clearly this will mean the relocation of the functions currently undertaken there.
"Planning for the various moves has begun, and Marsh's Witham office would be one of the sites for potential relocation."
