Police are asking for help in tracing a teenager who has been missing from her Wix home for a week.
They are concerned for the welfare of 16-year-old Shantel Summerfield and think she might have tried to meet a male pen friend.
Shantel, of Oakley Road, has not been seen since last Thursday and officers are asking her to contact them immediately.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Shantel was reported missing on July 22 and it is believed that she could have gone to meet a young man who was a pen friend.
"We have been unable to trace him and are appealing for help in finding them."
Shantel is 5ft 4ins, weighs ten stone and is of medium build. She has long straight blonde hair, which she usually wears in a ponytail.
She was last seen wearing a navy blue tracksuit with white strips down the side, a pink short-sleeved t-shirt and faded blue jeans.
Mistley police are dealing with the case and can be contacted through the main Clacton switchboard on 01255 221312.
