A mother and her two children were homeless today after fleeing a fire that engulfed their home.
On guard - an officer stands outside the home
The terrified family ran into the back garden to save themselves from the blaze, which began in the living room of the house in Tyrrells Road, Billericay, just before 9pm yesterday.
Firefighters believe a dropped cigarette was the cause.
Police officers from Billericay station are now guarding the house to prevent anyone from entering.
