Police are renewing an appeal for witnesses to a crash in which a stolen car smashed into a railway bridge in Westcliff.
The accident, in Hamlet Court Road on Sunday morning, left two men with multiple injuries. They are still in Southend Hospital in a stable condition.
The silver Ford Fiesta had been stolen from Salisbury Avenue, Westcliff, shortly before the crash at 2.30am.
The driver, a 21-year-old from Basildon, lost control of the car as it crossed the bridge.
Investigating officers have yet to interview him but he has been arrested on suspicion of an aggravated charge of taking a vehicle without consent and driving with no insurance.
It is believed the passenger was a 22-year-old man from Southend.
