A one-stop service for Basildon's elderly and vulnerable people is being launched today.
The Basildon Care and Repair Team is designed to help people to live independently in their own homes.
It will help arrange repairs and improvements. The team also has a handyperson scheme, can arrange home safety and security checks, has a welcome-home-from-hospital service and can give advice on energy efficiency.
It is run by Basildon Council's adaptations team, occupational therapists from Essex County Council and the Moat Housing Group. Citizens Advice Bureau and Age Concern are also involved.
The service is based in Hatherley, Basildon. To contact it, call 01268 465410.
