Thousands of pounds are being invested into a horse and pony sanctuary in Basildon to encourage people to visit.

The Horse and Pony Protection Society has been given a total of £15,000 to make improvements to its site, at Marsh Farm, Pitsea.
Work begins this Saturday on an arena to exercise horses and for future jumping shows, which is being funded by a donation of £5,000 from Pet Plan Trust.
