Arena Essex had no answer to Swindon's maximum man Leigh Adams whose five-rides unbeaten performance laid the foundations for his side's 45-48 Elite League success at the Purfleet Raceway.
The one-time Hammer was in a class of his own in this entertaining meeting and he included three wins over home star Mark Loram, while the solid all-round backing of his Robins team mates proved effectively crucial on a night when the home side, looking jaded, never led the meeting.
In truth, they rarely looked likely to trouble their opponents after Adams and former Hammer David Ruud had collected a comfortable maximum on the opening heat.
Afterwards Hammers boss Ronnie Russell said, "It was a terrific speedway meeting for the fans to watch but the majority probably feel like I do, gutted that we lost.
"I never like losing at the best of times but to lose at home really hurts."
