Vandal-hit flats which have been a prominent eyesore for many years may at last be torn down.
The prospect follows news that Freemasons, who used part of the architecturally-famous Park Court flats building in Central Avenue, Frinton, are hoping to move.
The flats, which have stood empty for more than 15 years, remain a constant target for young vandals, but all attempts by the owners to repair or redevelop the neglected property have failed.
Now the Freemasons have announced they are hoping to move out before the end of the year.
Brian Foulkes, secretary of the Frinton and Walton Masonic Hall Association, confirmed that talks were under way with a view to moving into a former nightclub at Kirby.
The idea would be to refurbish Tracks, which closed last year. A bid to demolish the club and build flats there was refused earlier this year.
But the spokesman stressed nothing had been signed yet.
