An irate farmer has been angered by a visit from travellers.

Stuart Saint Clair Pearce moved to Colchester from Kent after too many run-ins with unwanted travellers.

But he had a visit from a group at his farm, Seven Saints Rare Breeds, in Severalls Lane yesterday.

The farmer, who keeps rare breeds of sheep, cows and turkeys at the site with his sister, said: "They turned up yesterday and I tried to move them off and had a bit of a confrontation. They then settled at the end of the road right next to the Mersea Homes development."

"It would not be so awful if the situation was dealt with properly. If it was, then I'm sure it would be fine."

Mr Saint Clair Pearce said the group moved on to land next to the Severalls Lane roundabout and just by Colchester business park after he told them to leave.

Colchester Chamber of Commerce was attempting to have them moved on from Severalls Lane.
