Danny Heale picked up where he left off last season when he made his debut for Great Wakering last night.
The striker was the top scorer for Canvey club Concord Rangers in the Essex Senior League last term.
And he wasted no time in opening his account for the Dr Martens East Division side, scoring a brace at Burroughs Park.
Heale put Rovers ahead eight minutes into the match with a Dagenham & Redbridge XI.
But Paul Hakim levelled for the Conference visitors a minute before half-time.
Simon Deakin put the hosts back in front on the hour, but Nathan Bailey levelled again for the Daggers 12 minutes later.
But Heale had the last say for his new club when he scored the winner 17 minutes before the final whistle.
