Six post office branches in Southend are to shut in September it was confirmed today.
They are: Station Road, Westcliff; Wentworth Road, Southend; Bridgwater Drive, Westcliff; Earls Hall Parade, Prittlewell; the Ridgeway, Chalkwell; West Road, Southend.
Another six are under the threat of closure.
Post Office spokeswoman Drew McBride said: "No one likes to see the branch nearest to them shut, but even with these closures customers will still have reasonable access to alternative Post Office services customers value and trust."
The announcement came as residents complained about the new single postal delivery service in Southend.
