Something old, something new, something borrowed, something like 35 bridesmaids and ten page boys?

Wedding helpers - bride-to-be Mandy Hawkes with some of the 35 bridesmaids at her wedding.

It might not be traditional to have 45 people follow you up the aisle, but it will certainly be fun for husband and wife-to-be Mandy Hawkes and Jason Reader.

The couple, who have two daughters Daisy and Kate, are set to wed in St Lawrence Church, St Lawrence, near Maldon, on Saturday, August 7, with a big entourage.

The wedding will see the pair notch up a Guinness World Record as the current world record for the most bridesmaids stands at 28.

They will have their wedding reception at Waterside Caravan Park, by St Lawrence Bay, where they have holidayed for the past three years.

Miss Hawkes said: "People say we are regular pied pipers, we always have other people's kids around. We do love kids and we have lots of nieces and nephews as well."

But the problem of how to transport them all to church remains and the couple are appealing for anyone who can help out with a carnival float or suitable vehicle to contact them on 01375 840729
