Tormented Ivy Slark today appealed for help in bringing her mother's murderer to justice after nearly 30 years.
Ivy's sister Madeline found their mum Ivy Davies, a cafe owner, battered to death at their home in Holland Road, Westcliff, on February 5, 1975.
The case is one of five in south Essex that has been reopened by Essex Police in the hope new technology and recollections from the public might help solve them.
Miss Slark, 53, from St Mark's Field, Rochford, said: "At the time I remember thinking people should hang for killing people. I'm not so angry now, but I'm upset that whoever did it has had a life.
"Often there are times in my life when I think I wish I had a mum - someone there for you to talk to.
"No one should get away with murder. I'm hoping someone's loyalty has changed or if someone has heard a rumour they call the police."
Ivy Davies, the 48-year-old owner of the Orange Cafe on Westcliff seafront, suffered appalling head injuries and also had a ligature around her neck.
