Taxi fares in Castle Point could rise by an average of 4.49 per cent, it has been revealed.
The new fares, requested by Castle Point Hackney Carriage Association, are to be presented to a licensing meeting on Friday.
Spokesman for the Castle Point Hackney Carriage Association, Dave Maud, said: "It will only make a very small difference to the people that use the cabs.
"Say the average fare was £5. There would be an increase of about 20p - hardly anything.
"This will not be in place until November even if the proposal is approved.
"So people don't need to worry that their fares are suddenly going to go up."
The licensing committee will meet at 2pm on Friday at the council offices, Kiln Road, Thundersley.
