House prices in the Southend area have rocketed by almost 160 per cent in five years.
MP Sir Teddy Taylor says figures by building society Halifax show house prices in his Southend East and Rochford constituency have galloped ahead of the national average.
The average house price in the constituency is £182,759, which is 159 per cent up from five years ago and 15 per cent up on last year.
