The bells of St Martin's Church in Basildon sounded sweet for blind Ron Whitt as he married the woman who has been a close friend for more than 18 years.

Two years ago, the same bells rang for the funeral of his wife, Lorna, who died after she was struck down with ME.

His new wife, Tracy Wright, 36, has known Ron since she trained one of his guide dogs. She helped him through his grief and love slowly blossomed.

Their wedding on Saturday was blessed with blue skies and was warmed by more than a hundred friends, relatives and well wishers who turned out to watch the happy occasion.

Even Ron's guide dog, Drift, who is the only Canadian white shepherd breed trained as a guide dog, got into the spirit by dressing up in a shirt and bow tie.
