Talks were today under way in an effort to evict a group of travellers who have set up camp on land behind Canvey rugby club.
Around 30 caravans and trucks moved on to the site near Castle Point golf course and Castle View School last night.
Police were today trying to find out who owns the land and the council was visiting the site in an attempt to get the travellers to move on.
