Behind every great athlete there is a team helping them to get trained, ready and kitted out.
And a small team of Colchester-based soldiers have been helping members of Britain's Olympic team, including Colchester's home-grown talent hurdler, Sarah Claxton and Witham's swimmer James Gibson, to pack their kit bags for Athens.
Run as a military operation, the team of six soldiers from town-based 7 Parachute Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery, have spent three weeks ensuring that each athlete has all the kit needed in their quest for medals and that nothing is left at home.
They were handing out kit such as running vests at London's Earls Court and at Birmingham.
