Great Wakering Rovers boss Tony Cross plans to unleash striker Danny Heale against Dagenham and Redbridge at Burroughs Park tonight.

The new signing from Concord Rangers has just returned from holiday in Cyprus and will make his debut against the Conference team.

"I expect Danny to start against Dagenham. He's only been to Cyprus so he won't be suffering from jet-lag," joked Cross.

"Danny is obviously going to be a little behind the rest of the team fitness wise because we've had two games while he's been away.

"But I'm sure he'll be looking forward to facing Dagenham and showing what he can do after ending last season as the Essex Senior League's top-scorer with Concord."

Heale has been joined at Rovers by another Concord team-mate, centre-half Brendon Walsh.

The former Ipswich Town youth teamer has agreed a deal with the Doctor Martens East Division side until the end of the season, much to the delight of Cross, who expects a stern test tonight.

"Dagenham's physio John Gowens set up the fixture for us as he lives in the village and we are hoping they will bring a strong side," he added.
