A former South Woodham Ferrers headteacher has been to visit Prince Charles.
Roger Leeke, who was headteacher at Woodville Primary School, attended the event at the Prince of Wales's Highgrove home in Gloucestershire.
He was one of 84 headteachers invited to the reception for primary school headteachers.
Woodville was chosen from a list of 300 successful primary schools published in the annual report of the Chief Inspector of Schools for 2002 to 2003.
Mr Leeke left Woodville at half-term to take up a post as senior development adviser for Essex County Council.
He said of his visit: "Prince Charles was very friendly and spoke to everyone. He was very knowledgeable about education and gave a very good speech at the end of the event."
