The brightest and best in Braintree commerce have been recognised at a glittering awards dinner.
The winner of the Derek Salmon retailer of the year award, held in memory of the murdered George Yard shopping centre manager, was announced at a dinner and awards ceremony at Howard Hall, Bocking End, on Friday.
Tim Wright, of Learn Direct Computer Training, was named as retailer of the year, with Tina Wade, of Boots the Chemist, and Niall Thorogood, of Hedingham Models, runners-up.
All three were nominated by members of the public in recognition of the excellent customer service they all provide at their workplace.
Boots the Chemist, in George Yard, led the way with 14 employees nominated, followed by women's clothing store Size Up with eight nominations, also in George Yard, and then by sandwich store CD's, in Sandpit Lane, Braintree.
George Yard centre manager Brenda Baker, who was one of the four judges, said: "We had a really good time.
"The award winners were identified on the basis of the nominations we received from the public.
"We had over 350 nominations. We added two runners-up because it was such a difficult decision."
