Basildon and Pitsea batsman Kiran Sangani proved his worth again as he steered the new towners to an eight-wicket victory.
Sangani hit an unbeaten 118 at Mopsies Park as Basildon scored 219-2 in reply to Southend-on-Sea's 218-8.
Earlier the seasiders had reached 52-2 after 24 overs before skipper Wayne Spear arrived at the crease to top score with 77.
He found support from Numan Khan and Dave Aldridge who hit 33 and 31 respectively.
Steve Brown did the most damage for Basildon by claiming 6-55.
Southend skipper Spear praised Sangani, saying: "There's not much you can do when you come up against a player like that. You just have to sit back and enjoy watching him.
"None of us played badly, it was just he was so good. He should be playing Premier Division cricket."
