There were a number of highlights for the Southend AC girls in the UK Young Athletes League match at Croydon.

After team-mate Leah Darby had been nominated athlete of the match in the previous meeting, this time the honour went to Southend's Alice Nutman after two winning performances at national grade two standard in Surrey.

She outran the opposition to clock 10.5 and 20.8 in the 75 and 150 sprints.

Nutman topped what was a smashing set of performances from the under- 13 girls, none of whom finished lower than third.

Her sister Catherine left everyone behind in the A string 1200 (4.10.1) as did Chloe Montgomery in the B 4.31.5), Her 1.15 high jump earned second place.

There was double success too in the 70 hurdles from Darby and Eleanor Evans (12.2 and 13.3 respectively).

Darby claimed a double by outstripping the opposition in the shot with a superb 8.01.

Evans' 3.86 was her second win of the day in the B string long jump and despite only finishing second in the high jump her 1.29 was a personal best as was Georgia Atkins' second place B string 800m (3.04.0).
