Electronic bus signs are still failing, leaving bus passengers in the dark about departure times.

The signs at Colchester bus station have repeatedly broken down in recent months, and Essex County Council is to be ordered to solve the problem.

Colchester Councils finance and audit scrutiny panel was told at its meeting on Wednesday night that the county council was responsible for operating the passenger information system.

Bus user David Mummery has been calling for the bus information signs to be repaired.

He told the panel: "It seems to me and Colchester voters that passing the buck seems more important than solving the issue."

Members of the panel agreed that Richard Gower, Colchester Councils portfolio holder for planning and transportation, should lobby the county council in a robust manner to make progress.
