Three armed raiders robbed a security van of cash today outside the Sainsbury superstore at Rayleigh Weir.
The men, at least one of whom was brandishing a handgun, struck at 9.37am at the store in Stadium Way.
They escaped with an unknown amount of cash but some of it has been recovered.
It is believed they speed off in a blue Ford car. The three are described as aged between 40 and 50.
