Harwich and Parkeston chief Mitchell Springett has shrugged off the departures of duo Matt Carmichael and Martin Calver and insists that 'they can be replaced.'

Goal-getter Carmichael hit the net 36 times in all competitions for the Shrimpers last season in his first year back at The Royal Oak.

But the 23-year-old has decided to join forces with former team-mate Gareth Heath and ex-manager Andy Clark at Ridgeons League premier division rivals Halstead Town.

Midfielder Calver, who joined Harwich from Wivenhoe Town last season, has also opted to move to Rosemary Lane.

Carmichael, who played against Colchester United in Halstead's pre-season friendly on Wednesday night, said: "Halstead initially invited me over on Monday night for training, but I ended up playing 90 minutes against Colchester.

"I'm really impressed by the whole set-up. They've got a good side and Andy Clark and Gary Harvey (assistant) have been really enthusiastic and sold the club to me."
