Police were today urgently appealing for witnesses to a road rage attack on Canvey.
A mother and daughter in a silver convertible BMW with its roof down, were chased and targeted by the violent rider of a Vespa-type moped.
The incident happened in Long Road, Canvey, after the car overtook the moped.
PC Tony Mowling said: "The lady who was driving has a heart condition and she overtook the moped to get away from it because lots of black smoke came out of the back of it.
"The rider took a dislike to this and kicked in the front of the car. He threw a metal object at her and missed, threw another object and missed again.
"Then he picked up another object and when they stopped at the junction of Denham Road, started hitting the side of the car."
Anyone who saw the incident or who knows anything about it is asked to contact Rayleigh Police on 01268 775533 as soon as possible.
