A young woman is in the intensive care ward of a Greek hospital after falling three storeys from a balcony.
Danielle Oakley, 21, of St Osyth, suffered multiple injuries following the accident while she was on holiday in Kos with a group of friends from Clacton.
Her mother and father, Pat and Brian Oakley, are at her bedside along with her boyfriend Anthony Cricket, of Frinton.
Now friends are rallying round to hold a fundraising event in Clacton.
Anthony's friend Dean Perry from Clacton flew out to the hospital in Crete.
"Danielle is in quite a serious way but she is a real fighter and I am sure she will pull through," he said.
"There is no idea when she will be coming home but her family and Anthony are staying with her until that is possible."
Danielle was taken to the hospital by air ambulance following the accident.
Mr Perry said she had been on a girls' holiday with friends. They had since come home and were shocked and upset by what had happened.
