Great Wakering Rovers chairman Roy Kettridge is extremely optimistic about the coming season.

Rovers face a new challenge as the non-league reshuffle puts them into the Southern League for the first time, and Ettridge can't wait.

"The chance to play against new opposition, at different venues, is refreshing," he said.

"This, coupled with a brand new financial sponsorship deal, achieved during the close season with a consortium of local business men, should give all at the Club, a real incentive to do well this term."

The sponsorship deal will grow according to Rovers' success on the pitch, with the consortium donating a substantial win bonus to the team.

It adds up to a good deal for Ettridge: "Coupled with the fact that IMS have again taken on the role of the Club's main sponsor, success on the pitch should give the impetus that Great Wakering Rovers needs to provide attractive and compelling football to the faithful followers of this old and established football club."

The Burroughs Park ground has been improved during the summer break, with two new floodlight pylons added, along with a new toilet block.
