A cracking common carp of 23lb was the icing on the cake for Hayden Forecast when he fished an extended session at Gloucester Park.

Carp capture - Hayden Forecast caught this 23lb common at Gloucester Park

The big fish, just one of the several dozen he landed during his visit, was five pounds heavier than his previous personal best.

Hayden took his haul at the western end of the Basildon venue's island, with most of his better fish falling to ledgered chocolate boilies.

It was a particularly fit specimen and at one stage caused Hayden to concede more than 30-yards of line.

Terry Markham took a tremendous 22 carp haul when from the cockle bank. The majority of his carp fell to tutti fruitti boilies cast tight to the island, although the three biggest fish of 17lb, 15lb and 14lb were tempted by luncheon meat baits.

Steve Payne and Lee Shaves landed more than 20 carp when they fished a swim at the lake's incoming canal, with Payne taking a personal best 19lb plus common.

Alan Watson targeted the big bay to include a personal best common carp of 19lb in a nine carp haul using halibut pellet baits.
